Hey everyone!

Though I haven’t been a Girl Scout in about 8 years, I wanted to urge you all to buy Girl Scout cookies this year. You may have heard about this in the news, but the Girl Scouts of America are currently under some scrutiny because of their policy to allow everyone who identifies and lives as a girl to join a troop, including transgender girls. This has caused a few troops out west to disband, and one girl in Texas has called for a ban of Girl Scout cookies for the GSA not representing “real girls.”

This whole situation has only made me prouder to have been a Girl Scout. They teach girls real values such as hard work, kindness, and respect, and they also teach girls tolerance and acceptance. Like any true Girl Scout, I accept anyone who lives as a girl as a girl. The fact that people are telling children, especially children who are already living incredibly difficult lives as trans individuals, that they are wrong or that they don’t belong is horrible.

So please, though the cookies are expensive and aren’t the most healthy snack, be sure to buy as many boxes as possible this year, and please spread the word. The Girl Scout’s mission statement is “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” Please support them in this mission to help ALL girls and, in turn, help the world.
